Super Easy Fruit Sorbet - Nova Gelato Maker

How to make super easy fruit sorbet at home without an ice cream maker or manually "churning" for hours? I'm so glad I've found Nova gelato maker!
(This is not an advert, Nova does not sponsor this post nor gave me any free product hehehe).

So easy to make icy fruity dessert that's perfect for summer, healthier, and fun for OB to make!

To make, simply freeze cut up fruits. We made strawberries, lychee & blueberries.
Aren't they gorgeous?

The possibility is limitless. You can use mango, pineapple, banana, yoghurt, add crushed oreos for texture, shaved chocolate, and even booze! Uh huh!

To start making, simply thaw the frozen fruits for 15 minutes & dump them into the chute.
OB loves helping out!
And you have lovely fresh gelato, sorbet, icy fruit, or whatever you wanna call it.
The machine doesn't take so much space & easy to clean too!

It's HK$880 if bought from their website, price could be cheaper in some other shops (I bought from Patisserie Corner for HK$700).

How to Make Easy Ice Sweet Corn Summer Dessert

Mega delish easy ice dessert. Just the perfect thing for this crazy sticky hot humid Hong Kong summer.
I saw this dish made by a celebrity in a Korean show called Happy Together, the Late Night Cafetaria segment. It's brilliant! It's savory-sweet, sweetness can be adjusted to any level, many different combinations can be done, it involves some sort of ice & super easy to make. I just had to try it!

Recipe (adapted from the show)
- 1 small can of coconut milk (the original recipe uses 1 box of milk)
- sweet corn kernels (fresh or canned - whichever lights your fire)
- condensed milk

Pour coconut milk into freezer friendly container, freeze. A couple of hours before serving, thaw in fridge until you can "mash" it with a fork. Or you can freeze the milk/coconut milk in smaller container so that you can use blender to make the "shaved milk ice". Place a serving of the granita-esque coconut milk in a bowl, add as much corn kernels (if you're using fresh corn, cook the corn & get the kernels) as you like & top it with condensed milk.

Icy creamy sweet savory goodness. LOVE!

Father's Day Dinner - Seafood in Sai Kung

We always celebrate special family occasions early to avoid crazy charges & make booking for table less painful :)
So we had our father's day dinner the week before the real day ;)
A lovely seafood dinner in Sai Kung, as requested by SC's dad.
My fil & mil went to Sai Kung market & chose the seafood from the restaurant's shop, and they get delivered to the restaurant, then cooked the way we wanted.
Sweet yummy prawns. Perfectly cooked.

Clams. Absolutely delicious! Perfect with rice.

Fish with broccoli. This was alright.

Obligatory soup. We could do without this. Not tasty enough.

Giant ass abalone! Perfectly cooked.

Scallops with vermicelli with tasty garlicky topping.

I bet I'm not the only one who likes the noodles more than the scallop - despite the fact that it's cooked nicely.

Fried giant ass oysters cooked in wine. Don't judge this fugly looking dish by its appearance...

...because it's so darn yummy!

Mantis shrimps. So tasty!!!!!

Lobster on a bed of fried rice instead of noodles. I'd prefer it with noodles :)

Mostly yummy dishes at HK$330 per person. Much better value for money than the touristy famous waterfront Sai Kung restos. I'd totally go for this one again.

Healthy Tomato Breakfast Smoothie

I copied this from a Korean show called "King Of Food". I used to eat tomatoes sprinkled with sugar when I was young, and was interested to try this sweet & slightly savory idea.

Recipe (adapted from the show)
- 1 large tomato, cut into chunks
- 1 cup skim milk
- 1 tbsp honey
(They added 1 tbsp olive oil too but I omitted it because.... I don't have any when I made this. Ooops!)
Put all ingredients in a blender & pulse until smooth.

The verdict?
I like the flavors but the smoothie doesn't get smooth, there are many bits of tomatoes that makes drinking not too smooth. I feel that running the smoothie through a sieve would be such a waste. Have you guys experienced this? Any solution?

Healthy Dragon Fruit Smoothie & Popsicle - Perfect For Summer

This smoothie is yummy & refreshing, and it is great for digestion ;)

It's fun for the kids to make too! OB had a great time helping out & he generally likes things more if he's involved in the process.
In goes banana... Mama's heart stopped seeing him using a knife, but papa closely supervised him. Phew..

In goes the chunks of dragon fruit..

And then yakult, ice & honey.
Pulse in blender 'til smooth.

Cheers!

How was it?

All smiles!
(And hello, beautiful poo poo, bye bye constipation! - oh gosh, being a mom has reduced me to THIS)

The same recipe can be made into popsicles. Hello, summer!

Recipe
- 1 banana
- 1 dragon fruit
- 1 bottle of yakult
- a handful of ice
- 1 tbsp honey
Pulse until smooth in a blender.
Drink up, refrigerate, or pour into popsicle mold & freeze.

Cheers!
