Hong Kong Style Sizzling Steak Dinner at Mei Yi Lim - 超正港式牛扒之美而廉餐廳

On one of our date nights, SC and I went for some good old Hong Kong style sizzling giant steaks.
聽過好多人講哩間扒房, 一早已經想試

And by giant, I meant gigantic, gargantuan, huge, jumbo, MEGA! Did you see the food overflowing from the hot plate? Yeah, baby, yeah!
真係好抵食! $6X-7X, 咁大件!

I love the atmosphere of this Hong Kong style "steak house". The decor, the service team of uncles in graying white shirts with faded black bow tie...so retro!

And more than anything, I love huge value set meals. Emphasis on huge.
The dinner sets cost HK$68 each and it includes soup (red or the corn starchy "cream" soup), buttered toast...
個餐正常人係食唔晒的...一個包, 一個牛扒, 一個湯, 一個檬樂, 兩個人一齊食仲要送多個炒飯!



...gigantic portion of steaks in a sauce of your choice (black pepper sauce is a popular choice) and an extra (as if the steak wasn't enough).

I dislike canned fruit cocktail (surprisingly!), so I am biased and won't comment ^_^

How was it?
Well, if you like corn-starchy, tenderized, and marinated steak...in giant portions, priced below HK$100, then this dinner set is perfect for you!
總結, 港式已醃牛扒, 高質, 抵食!

But for me...the steak was just an extra.
The real stars of the day were these bits...
但對我黎講, 我就鐘意食佢D雜菜多D

...soggy chips and "veggies" which had been swimming in tasty sticky sauce and caramelized by the hot plate.
So fan-freaking-tastic!
I wish they sold a huge portion of this without the steak.
Never knew that I had a bit of vegetarianism in me ;)

PS. If all of the above didn't fill you up, you could ask for an extra plate of fried rice as a side dish. It's included in the set dinner.

Ugly Delicious - Banana Chocolate Spring Rolls 醜陋的朱古力蕉春卷

These spring rolls may look super ugly.
But, there were abso-bloody-lutely delicious, freakin' yummy! Trust me.
我很醜, 但是我很温柔 (好味)..

They look so ugly because some chocolate bits were sipping out of the spring roll sheets. Hmmm, actually, to me, the chocolate specks kinda made them appear extra appealing, ugliness in the best way possible.
醜的原因有好多, 就好似爆醬朱古力咁....落重手左...但咁啱得咁蹺就係咁先好食..


Super easy to make.
Roughly mash some ripe bananas, prepare some chocolate (I use jimmies), wrap some banana and chocolate in spring roll wrappers and deep fry until golden brown.
超易整的說.
攪溶的香蕉, 預備D朱古力 (我用開jimmies牌), 將D朱蕉醬搽落春卷皮度, 柞到金黃

Crispy on the outside, sweet and creamy with chocolatey bits on the inside.
Ugly? Who cares, right?
外脆內軟, 正!

Nissin Black Garlic Oil Tonkotsu Flavored Instant Noodles 傳說既黑蒜油豬骨湯味公仔面

I've heard so much about this instant noodle.
It's the talk of the town, at least on my Facebook newsfeed ^_*

成日去超級市場都見到佢地個廣告但就見唔到有得買(我諗一出就比人買晒)

It took us a while before we could buy some. That made me wanna try it even more. Clever marketing, eh?
我足足等左兩個月, 日日去超級市場等佢出...

Finally, I got to try it last weekend.
How was it? Was it all that? Did it make my earth move? Was it the instant noodles of all instant noodles?
最後, 好幸運地係一間唔近我地既百佳揾到!, 即買左10包! 本來想買一箱...炒賣返出去..sosad

Well, the black garlic oil is fragrant and the tonkotsu flavor's pretty intense (Hello, Mr. Sodium), but for me,  it's definitely not indispensable.
食落都幾好味, 好濃蒜香味!

Tuen Ng Family Dinner 端午節晚餐

Just sharing what we had for Tuen Ng festival family dinner. SC's mama made almost everything, yummy yummy yummy. I made the bakuteh (pork ribs stewed in Chinese herbs and spices) and the curry fish, using packets of spices I bought from my recent trip to Kuala Lumpur.
是日端午節, 晚餐去左SC企食, SC媽媽整左好多正野食! 而我就整左肉骨茶同咖哩魚, 今次個調味包係馬拉買的!

McDonald's Spicy Fried Chicken from KL 馬拉先有既麥當奴餐

I went all the way to Kuala Lumpur, and I ate....McDonald's???!!!
Yes! Judge me all you can, but I love their spicy fried chicken, which is not available in Hong Kong, and no, it is not the same as Hong Kong's spicy chicken wings.
千里迢迢去到馬拉食麥記!?!?!
冇辦法, 你幾時見香港麥記有炸雞食? = =; 唔係雞翼同雞鎚咁簡單!

I ate this meal two times.

一次都唔夠, 仲要食左兩次..


I tried their banana toffee sundae. I'd say that the name is much better than the taste.

I also had KFC's fried chicken with chicken rice there :p
除左麥記, 仲食埋KFC㖭...

I am a junk food junkie. I know.
We've also spotted another junk food junkie on the road!
