Let's start with a lame excuse.
"Work has been crazy, so I haven't had a chance to go through my food photos with recipes."
However, I do realize that I suck at reviewing restaurants. Thus, I'll just share a bit of my recent dining experience with you (is this also somehow called a "review"?).
Lil' SC, aka my bun in the oven wanted fish and chips.
*Rolled eyes*
Yeah, right. As if lil' SC can want anything at this stage.
But I figured that if I could still blame it on him, I should. Soon enough, he'll be able to deny everything he's accused of and I only have me, myself and I to blame for my cravings.
Anyway, what bb wants, bb gets.
So we went to Outback Steakhouse (the OZs are quite famous for their fish and chips, right? Update: many thanks to Spike and Yaya's Yum Yums, who notified me that Outback Steakhouse isn't Australian, but it's an American invention ^_* Oppps! Anyways, I loved their fish n chips nonetheless ^_^) and I was very happy with my giant serving of fish and chips. Succulent fish, crispy batter, chunky fries, with delicious tartar sauce and refreshing slaw.
The baby back ribs were ok, but I've had much much better ones elsewhere.
Naturally, when I am not allowed to have alcohol, all the down-under margaritas the cocktail menu boasted looked extra attractive to me. But, being a good mama-to-be, I ordered iced tea (maybe not exactly good, since the tea isn't decaf. Opps). Anyway, I love such iced teas, since I can adjust the level of sweetness and the amount of lemon juice myself.
Now, the whole main point of this post.
SC is so hooked on his iPhone games, he pretty much ignored me when I juggled our orders trying to get good shots of them. My hormones-fueled wrath was upon him (again, I must blame everything on raging hormones while I still can ^_^)...which he wisely ignored, and he stopped playing his iPhone once dinner started. My wrath was then diverted to our servers, who sucked big time (We (I) hated that we had to explain ourselves why we wanted another extra tiny bowl of ketchup for the fries), and despite all the wrath...the mood swing went the other way after I was full and the evening ended happily in peace.
For locations etc:
Outback Steakhouse Hong Kong
PS. We went to Tsim Sha Tsui branch. I should've gone to the one in Wanchai.
Oh dear, if it'd been a real Aussie place the tomato sauce would have come with the chips automatically! Alas the Outback steakhouses are an American invention! We have one here in Sydney which we go to for a giggle and because we rather like the bloomin fried onion flowers with blue cheese sauce but their authenticity sucks, hehe!
ReplyDeleteI once went to Outback too and go for the ribs and chicken combo, it was quite good. Of course, not just for me, sharing with a friend.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn´t mind going once a again. Seeing the pictures makes me feel hungry, lol :P
Rita, hate to tell you this, Outback is "Australian-themed" but it is not Australian. American company, first branch was in Florida.
ReplyDeleteYaya & Spike, thanks for letting me know that Outback isn't exactly the real OZ badass I thought it is ;)
ReplyDelete...and I too, love their bloomin fried onion flower :D
Javier, I especially adore their burger set lunch :) let's go sometime...does ur gf work nearby?
Yes, Outback Steakhouse is an American chain restaurant. We were served a rather raw looking steak when we ordered well-done before and never went back since. :P But the fish and chips sure look good.
ReplyDeleteI've never actually been to Outback but it seems like a good place to satisfy a craving. I hope the baby was satisfied!
ReplyDeleteThumbs up for SC... and big booo booo to your server! I don't see why you have to explain yourself for the extra ketchup. Over here, they will gladly give you two if you just asked for one. Reason? their tips...
ReplyDeletethe outlets in Kuala Lumpur is just as bad, so stay away
ReplyDeleteI was in the Causeway Bay branch the other day, and felt the whole place had gone downhill a lot since my last visit last year.
ReplyDeleteThe service was really poor, and like you we struggled to get a second puddle of ketchup, compared to the last visit where a whole bottle of Heinz was put on the table. An ill thought out economy I think, and the same with the crudities that come with the wings, now half the previous amount.
The burgers were good, but the coleslaw a small bowl of industrial thin sauced slop. Chips were good, but also considerably less than previous visits.
Looks like the micro managers have been brought in!
Fish and chips in a steakhouse! How appropriate. Hahha! Wooo...but all the goodies (DHA, omega) for your bb. He is already smart ...so what's not to love with more...
ReplyDeleteOh..tell me more about being hooked on gadgets - my other half does the same even without the iPhone! Arrrrgh....and he still gets his steak.
That's what my hubs does now with his iphone!!!
ReplyDeletehehehe. i think hubby feels that way too as I play with my iphone heaps!
ReplyDeletebut that steak looks lovely- and although outback is american hey, what the heck, it's still food!
Evil evil looking fish and chips! :) I've tried Outback once and it was.. inconsistent, cause my dish came out yucky while my husband dish came out better. And we ordered the same thing! (Medium rare steaks, mine came out well-done and super dry).
ReplyDeleteIt's ok to drink tea (i'm pregnant myself and the only thing i can drink without vomiting is apparently tea) and the doctor said it's ok, as long as I'm hydrated :D
OH RLY?? I always thought Outback was Australian too! The ones overseas are much better than the one here hee hee
ReplyDeletei tot fish&chips is english...
ReplyDeleteSorry your service at Outback was so bad...I've been fortunate to have great service every time I've been. Next time, if you haven't already...try the bloomin' onion! I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteHope that little bb enjoyed his/her dinner too!

I think we have this in Singapore too but I have never tried it. My fail-proof choice is almost always fish & chips!! Good that theirs is good!
